From the collections of Asher Cartfield ( 1897-1984), A Jewish Lithuanian who became the successful founder of A. R. Cartfield & Company,
eventually pursuing his passion as an art collector. Asher and his wife, Doreen, have been collecting and dealing antiques since before they were married continued to do so their entire lives. They have traveled the world to hunt for treasures in the countryside. The deep joy that Mr. & Mrs. Cartfield take in making discoveries is most evident when visiting their exotic shows that they put together from the findings of their explorations titled: Asian Antique and Culture. They were obsessed with the mysteries of Asian culture and expressed their passion through their love towards objects of art. They brought these sentimental artworks around the world and finally back to their home in the United States to share their fascination. According to his son, Mr.Cartfield once said, "If you are prepared to be open and intimate, cultural and language barriers don't really stand in the way. Art is powerful enough to change the world and fulfill the other side of your soul. They believe that wealth will wear off over time, but only art contains eternal value."
